Official Statement:
Hello #SouthernCalifornia! The #HelloKittyCafe Pop-Up Container will be having our Grand Opening Celebration on Friday July 15th through Sunday July 17th! We will be open from 11am-10pm each day in the Giant Wheel Court and will be having daily customer giveaways, while supplies last, so don't miss out on this exciting weekend! See you there!
I went to the Hello Kitty Cafe a few days ago at around 9pm. I was waiting behind many other people and while looking at the menu and hours, I realized the cafe itself was supposed to close 2 hours ago... at 7pm! Wow! Everyone is working so hard to keep up with the demand because there were so many fans waiting in line!
It was a nice break from catching Pokemon to enjoy some Strawberry Mint Lemonade! I'll admit, it's expensive at around $5 a cup but it is luckily actually good. Usually novelty stuff looks good but taste bleh. This drink was refreshing!
During soft opening, they have very limited items for sale. Sure if you cannot wait for grand opening and just need your Hello Kitty now, there are some cookies and pastries and drinks for you to try!
This Hello Kitty Cafe was supposed to open last late summer (2015) according to some sources I personally know of. It's supposed to be a cafe with cute Hello Kitty latte art made with coffee from Portola Coffee. The milk would be locally sourced and so many good things were supposed to be introduced.
Unfortunately, right now it seems like this pop-up container cafe is basically just like the truck. They don't sell anything too unusual or unique aside from what they were already selling for the Hello Kitty truck that would come to Irvine Spectrum several times.
But the difference is, instead of just at truck, there are some tables to sit. Disappointly not shaped like Hello Kitty's head or anything. Something you'd find at the popular Hello Kitty cafes in Asia....
Either way, I hope this Hello Kitty Cafe Pop-Up will introduce unique things in the future! Let's see!
