AIN'T YO ORDINARY KARAOKE ! LOOK AT THE FANCY AND COMFY CHAIRS!
THERE'S A ROOM THAT FEELS MORE LIKE A RESTAURANT ! PRETTY LEGIT !
I ALWAYS USE THE CONTROLLER WITH THE KOREAN. IT MAKES IT EASIER TO SEARCH SONGS TOO! IF YOU NEED GUIDANCE, DON'T BE SHY TO ASK THE WORKERS THERE!
PARTY DRINKS FOR Y'ALL
FRESHHHHHHHHHHHHH FRUIT TO HELP YOU PREPARE YOUR SINGING VOICES FOR THE NEXT SONG ^___^
KUHRISSSSSPPY CHICKEN. I HAD THIS WITH MY FRIENDS LEXY AND SERIKA AND OMGGG WE COULDN'T BELIEVE IT WOULD BE AN ACTUAL WHOLE CHICKEN! HAHA IT WAS YUMMY AND SUPER CRUNCHY SO IT WAS EASY TO BREAK OFF AND SHARE
"...but we are never ever ... getting back together..."
Here is my kawaii friend Serika !
I've always wanted to hear Serika sing. I met her while studying abroad in Japan last year at Meiji Gakuin University and found out that she's a member of the Acapella Club (Musik Spiel) there. So, when we had a weekend to ourselves and were trying to decide what to do...I just had to suggest going to Karaoke!
Lexy joined and the 3 of us headed to The Plus + Karaoke Restaurant in La Habra. This place was a bit hard to find at first because Google Maps sucks butt these days... (it said left side but it was actually right side!...sigh...) The place is located in the same plaza as Denny's and Hometown Buffet (across from Vons).
I thought the location was a bit far but apparently it takes only approximately 22 minutes from my house! And I live near Disneyland! The Karaoke Restaurant is also just on the edget of La Habra, which means... it's quite close to the new & hip Buena Park Korea Town (totally replaced the used-to-be bustling Ktown of Garden Grove in my opinion). What I'm trying to say, I'm glad The Plus + Karaoke Restaurant is not lost deep in the "woods of La Habra" because it is pretty dark and hilly up there.... ^___^
We were happily greeted by friendly workers as we entered and then guided to our karaoke room. Remember to look up if y'all go because there are decorations on the ceiling that's pretty cool like stars or space or something if I remember correctly... Anyways, the place is owned by a sweet Korean family and they were super helpful and tended to us so happily! I was impressed!
Not only was I impressed by the customer service, but I was also pretty much sold by how amazingly spacious the room we got was, how new and clean everything was, and how there is a button on the wall to push for service. That is pretty legit right there! It reminded me of how Korean restaurants have those buttons to push for the waiter. But here, you don't need to leave the room and miss someone's beautiful voice (or possibly ear-deafening like mine) to talk to a worker. Instead, you just need to push the button and someone will come. What?! Why don't the other karaoke places have this .... !? Even the controller is brand spankin` new! Woo! Oh, and of course, the microphones and karaoke system and stuff are pretty new too (did I mention this place just opened?). I think my singing sounded a bit better than usual actually because of how new everything was. (Yay!)
They've definitely got your new Korean songs if that's what you're looking for. What I really was looking for were One Ok Rock songs and thank goodness they've got like soo many! I was surprised actually! I sang (tried to sing) the beginning, deeper deeper, the clock strikes, etc. Lexy and I also sang the theme song to Sword Art Online. We sang some Kyary Kyary Pamyu too to try to impress Serika (my Japanese friend) with our terribly broken Japanese. In addition, they have American, Chinese, Vietnamese and Filipino songs! However, we were disappointed that it they didn't have any "dirty rap / r&b songs". We searched for Drake songs (none), Chris Brown's new flame (they had the wrong lyrics), and Nicki Minaj only had one song. Tyga was nonexistent (why?!) and some other rappers too. The cliche karaoke must-sings were definitely sung such as some Taylor Swift, One Direction, A Whole New World, etc.
As for food, we got the crispy chicken and some chips. The chicken was soooooooo crunchy! Because it was so crunchy it was easy to just tear off and share! The salad that came with it however was way too sweet. The salad was overpowered by a super sweet and tangy sauce that was just too much. I would recommend the chefs to go easy on the sauce next time. The chips though were damn addicting. It was a little sweet and crunchy. It was kind of like... sweet pita chips or something? I don't know but we wanted more! Personally though, I don't think the crispy food goes well with someone trying to sing because it would make that person's throat dry. But I definitely recommend getting fruit! Or, if you're someone that is too shy to sing, at least you can munch on some food!
Side Story: Many moons ago, I was a super super shy person when it comes to singing. I absolutely would not sing even if someone begged me to. Just touching the microphone gave me the heebie jeebies. So, I think a Karaoke Restaurant would have been the perfect solution because I at least could enjoy some food while I enjoy everyone else's singing. Now I'm not shy anymore even though I sing horribly. Who wants to hear? ^___^
Lexy, Serika and I sang our heart out for 3 whole hours. THREE HOURS! That's nothing though because we totally could have kept on going. When I finally heard how angelic Serika sings, I just wanted to listen more and more. No wonder she's in the acapella club! ^___^ And her Japanese singing is so beautiful!
Overall, I totally recommend this place because everything is super new and clean! They also sell food too so you can enjoy the best of both worlds: food + karaoke!
TO SUM IT UP:
- friendly workers equals great customer service
- they sell food!!
- we got the chicken + beer combo (substituted with sodas instead of beer)
- crispy chicken was delicious but I dont recommend eating it if you wanna keep a nice throat for singing
- salad that came with the chicken was too sweet.
- great for big parties
- there is a button in the room for you to push for service. How awesome is that!!
- machines are new and room is clean with comfy chairs!
- Happy hours are 3-7pm daily so getttt itttttt and prices is reasonable
- they've got a good list of American songs, totes got you hooked up for the Korean songs, and has a decent amount of Japanese songs.
- for some reason you cannot search songs while singing a Japanese song. This goes for all the Karaoke places I've been to (except for in Japan, of course). Why is that?!
- they also have Chinese, Vietnamese and Filipino songs too
- opens late ! from 3pm - 2am
