ADDRESS:
16051 Brookhurst St Ste D Fountain Valley, CA 92708
(Next to Fusion Tear Bar / Starbucks in the plaza across from Mile Square Park! This same plaza also has Tea Party Lounge which I love better than Fusion Tea Bar!)
HERE IS THE BEAUTIFUL YVONNE GIVING US SAMPLES. YOU CAN TELL SHE'S HAVING FUN AT WORK...RIGHT? JUST LOOK AT THAT HUGE SMILE!
THE TOPPPPPINGS!
I LOVE HOW THEY HAVE THESE UNIQUE TASTING SAUCES THAT THEY DRIZZLE ON YOUR ICE CREAM. I MEAN... REESES PEANUT BTUTER SAUCE? OMGGG! JUST BLOWS MY MIND!
Milk Bar is a fairly new ice cream parlor located across from Mile Square Park. Ever had the thought that a yummy dessert reward is necessary after a good run at Mile Square Park? Well...I would totally do this because I can't resist ice cream: get ice cream after running. Why not though right? It's just too close! The park... is just across the street!
My first impression of this place was that it was actually a bit expensive. Especially since I'm spoiled by stores with soft openings that usually have soft opening deals like bogo free or 50% off menu....I kind of just expected that here. I went during it's soft opening a few months ago and was surprised to see absolutely no soft opening special/discount at all except for the cliche negligible discount whenever you check into social media. But, oh well! That didn't stop me from splurging anyways.
The decor made me think of history class. The artwork (sorry I'm not very familiar with the famous paintings) reminded me of a super famous artwork from someone else... I think I remember now... 99 red balloons? Hah! Someone help me out here! Anyways, I thought it was clever of the designers to incorporate ice cream cones into the artwork. Especially the one with John Travolta!
Now onto the ice cream! Their flavors weren't very exciting to me. The flavors they offered are also offered at many other places too...so I thought... what is special here? Why would I go here instead of Frozen Bar or Afters Ice Cream...?! They have the typical and the not typical (but has become common) flavors such as green tea, lychee, taro (you know...the Asian stuff...), mint chip, cookie dough, mango, etc. When I finally sampled the flavors, I realized that this place does deserve some special recognition. Their flavors made me feel like I was actually eating whatever it was. For an example, taro gave me the sensation that I was literally eating the taro beet! It's just that flavorful! All of their flavors were very legit and very strong in flavor that it could probably lift some weights, no joke.
But, I must warn y'all about the green tea. Their green tea ice cream is not the typical green tea you'd find in the supermarket, or at other ice cream shops like Frozen Bar and Hans Ice Cream. The owner Nick and professional ice cream scooper Yvonne informed me that they were trying to go for the green tea kit kat flavor. SO IF YOU WANT GREEN TEA KIT KAT ICE CREAM, this is the spot! It may taste a bit strange at first but may be yummy to some! I personally wasn't fond of it...
