***UPDATE: THIS PLACE HAS NOW CLOSED DOWN AND REPLACED BY DOWNTOWN DONUTS.
I'm quite saddened by this news because I LOVE THIS PLACE! Tootsie was one of my go to places to get super affordable ice cream cookie sandwiches from after a good hike with all my friends. I visited this place often and the ice cream flavors were always unique and great. Cookies were always soft too!
The pink door known for cheap and good cookie ice cream sandwiches is now replaced by a donut shop. Why!
However, Downtown Donuts seems to be pretty darn awesome too according to yelp with inexpensive mini donuts! Who wants to try with me...

Meanwhile, let's take a look at all the photos below and reminisce about those good times at Tootsie..

AND THIS IS HOW WE EAT OUR ICE CREAM. IN THE BACK OF AN SUV TRUNK !
LOOKING FOR PINEAPPLE DOLE WHIP FLOATS BUT DON'T HAVE A PASS TO DISNEYLAND? LOOK NO FURTHER! TOOTSIE HAS IT HERE ^__^ !
It doesn't taste exactly the same as the one at Disneyland, but it sure is close enough! And there is no line either so you'll pretty much get it instantly without suffering from the heat of the sun and long lines. The ice cream here is good too! They have interesting flavors like cucumber sorbet which was very refreshing. I don't like cucumber much though so I didn't get that flavor. They also offer ice cream sandwiched between two soft cookies! And the cookies are actually soft ! Better than Diddy Riese in Los Angeles in my opinion because the cookies there are as hard as rocks...
Buying a cookie ice cream sandwich might just be too much sometimes so I recommend buying a scoop of ice cream ($1.50) and then just add a cookie for 5ocents more. That's just $2 bucks total folks! And it's easier to eat because you eat it in a cup and there's a cookie to munch on! Yum yum yum... right?!
My faves are the espresso explosion, mint chip ice cream, cookies and cream, strawberry cheesecake, and beachcomber (has pop rocks!) all with macadamia nut cookies (my fave)!
I personally would not get the Pineapple Dole Whip Float again because it's too sour and tart for me.
I would like to note that this place is very hyped up especially on Yelp. If you are looking for a place with artisan handcrafted ice cream then I am not sure if this is the right place for that. I think this place is great if you are in the area but I would not travel from a faraway land to try this place. Why? Because I love mint chip, and when I tried the Mint Chip here it tastes similar to the thrifty brand. But, for the cheap prices this place is definitely a hit! Parking sucks though so I recommend parking at the meter and staying at your car so you can prepare to move if a cop comes by.
