Guess what time it is! BREAKFAST TIME! Anytime! Since I usually don't wake up that early...
I am super super excited to share my new cereal with you all! I was having an LA adventure with Kevin and Danny last week and it was pretty amazing. I learned how to use the Metro Train to get from East LA to Downtown LA. It was so exciting! Anyway, when we made our way back to West Covina Area, we had some time to check out Tokyo Central Supermarket!
I used to work at Marukai which is now owned by Don Quijote (famous Japanese goods store known for ... well interesting things and knick knacks) and so most of the Marukai supermarkets changed their name to Tokyo Central ! I've never been to the West Covina location and found out it's so big! I definitely feel the Don Quijote vibe in that store!
Anyway, I was just walking around and noticed most of the stuff in stock was the same as my local store in Costa Mesa.
Until...
I SAW A BIG BOX FILLED WITH THIS MATCHA CEREAL! ^___^
At first I didn't want to buy it because I'm kinda broke these days. Like really broke. But Kevin insisted on buying it for me. And I'm glad he did (thanks Kevin <3)
They sell a 200g bag at Tokyo Central (West Covina) for $5.50.
The next day I was super excited to try it! Even had to share it with my plushie friends too! This matcha cereal has some interesting add-ons as well!
There are:
→green tea powder of course!
→soy milk cubes (tofu..?) made with powdered green tea and kinako (a.k.a. injeolmi or roasted soybean flour)
→azuki beans (red beans)
→chestnut pieces
→strawberries
I think my friends here are excited to eat with me! Especially Taeyang Oppa there.... haha... xD
Upon opening the bag, I could smell a slight aroma of matcha! It's such a beautiful green!
Matcha Granola! I love this clump of granola. Just biting into it I could taste a slight bitterness!
Here I am pouring "milk" into my cereal! It's one of my favorite bags/purse that Kevin got for me for my birthday this year! The brand is SkinnyDipLondon and it's just my style! I thought it'd be fun to take some cute photos with it and my cereal!
KAWAII THINGS ARE MY WEAKNESS OMG!
Do y'all know Roasting Water? It's a popular boba shop with locations in Orange County and some in Los Angeles County! They are known for offering cute bottles and deals with cute mugs. This Rilakkuma mug is one of the mugs I got from Roasting Water! It's so big I eat cereal out of it....
After taking many photos with my Milk Bag, I then proceeded to actually pour real milk into it! I then took a lot of photos so the cereal was soaked with the cereal a bit...
AND THE RESULT IS BEAUTIFUL!
The milk has turned a light green!
LET'S SEE HOW IT'LL TASTE!
Get ready to go dipping in a Matcha Milk Pool, Rilakkuma!
Okay, this cereal is amazing except for the azuki beans. The beans become soft as if you're eating the real thing after it's cooked. I personally don't like red beans... so next time I eat this, I'll just take it out before pouring the milk!
Are you craving Matcha Cereal yet?
LOOK AT THE LIGHT GREEN COLOR OF THE MILK!
I AM SO HAPPY!
I DRANK THE MILK AND IT TASTES LIKE A CREAMY MATCHA LATTE!
If you are a lover of matcha and green tea... then I totally recommend this cereal!
I'm so glad Kevin ended up buying this for me. It's become one of my favorite cereals offering much more than just cereal. The granola itself tastes does taste like green tea. However, it's not strong. It's a light flavor but you can still sense it on your tongue. And not only that, but it's slightly bitter as well! The smell is great too! And then, when you let it soak in the milk a bit, the milk even turns into a creamy matcha drink! It's like a green tea latte!
But why is this cereal so difficult to find now?!
Ever since that day that I tried it, I've been looking forward to going to Tokyo Central even more to find it.
I went to Tokyo Central in Costa Mesa and was greatly disappointed. We were only able to find the barcode for the 500g version at $11.98. But there is no cereal! It's out of stock/sold out! NOOO!
But maybe there is still hope! Yesterday, Kevin and I went on a mission and went to three supermarkets. We went to Marukai in Gardena. No luck. Tokyo Central in Gardena. Also none. Nijiya in Torrance was our last hope... but nope.
IS IT ALL SOLD OUT? OR NOT EVEN SOLD AT ALL NOW!? But there was such a huge box at the West Covina location when I saw it.
I felt full of regret that we didn't buy more when we first saw it. T___T
If you know where to buy this, please share! <3 I am totally addicted!
