YUMMAYY! IT'S THE CHAMOY ITALIAN ICE! STRAWBERRY + MANGO ITALIAN ICE WITH CHAMOY SYRUP AND TAJIN CHILI POWDER!
FREEEEE WI-FI ! AND THEIR CHALKBOARD DRAWING IS UBER CUTE AND CREATIVE!
THE FIRST THING I GOTTA SAY ABOUT THIS PLACE IS WOW! ABSOLUTELY SUPERB CUSTOMER SERVICE!
If I were to rank several Italian Ice places on Customer service, it would go like this:
- Frostbites / Kups / Confetti
- Joes Italian Ice (they've been lacking in service lately for me.. but usually they'd be #1 too)
- Zero Degrees (not always consistent on the good service...)
Here's why: This place is owned by a cute husband + wife couple and are super friendly and omg they suuuuure know how to make a conversation exciting and joke around with customers in a fun and enjoyable way! It definitely makes the experience more memorable and enjoyable! They also encourage you to try as many flavors as you want so I absolutely didn't feel guilty about it!
The decor itself is very clean in my opinion. It's kind of minimalistic in away similar to Zero Degrees because the colors are mostly grey / black, white, and wooden, with chalkboards. Basically it's a black and white place with colorful italian ice!
The Italian Ice was good in my opinion but what really stood out to me was the soft serve custard. It reminds me of Frostbites soft serve which in my opinion is really good! (But Joe's Italian Ice's custard will always be my #1.) I think the Italian Ice was pretty generic and can be found at other places and would probably be similar in taste. But custard is really important for me somehow because when you eat it together with the ice, it should compliment well... right? Anyways, good news though because I really like the custard here!
Kev and I decided to order the famous Chamoy Italian Ice combo! It was soooooooo delicious! Like, Mexican Candy in a "Kup"! We got the Mango and Strawberry Italian Ice drenched (but not too much) in Chamoy sauce with Tajin chili powder sprinkled generously on top. I even asked for more Tajin later and they were happy to make it rain on my ice! I think the combo itself was great but a little too sweet at times for Kev. I thought it was a good balance. Sometimes a bit too sour but overall it was nostalgic of my Lucas lead eating days!
Some flavors I think are unique are:
- chamoy combo
- horchata (this sold out when we got there)
- key lime pie (whoa!)
- cheesecake
They only have chocolate and vanilla custard for now but they said that they are experimenting with more! (Hint: Thai Tea custard!)
For the fun atmosphere and super awesome owners, I totally recommend this place! It's also only $2 for a small cup on Tuesdays! What a freakin deal! They even serve drinks as well!
